Thank-you

When I was sixteen,
I felt my world had ended.
Had nothing to live for,
No one cared,
Couldn't seem to find my place.
Friendships came and friendships went,
But only a few stood out,
Above the rest.
Felt these friendships had saved my life,
Though sill it may seem to them.
Once cried myself to sleep,
Dreamt of the past,
Wished only for the future,
Prayed someday it would all change for the better.
Now I know,
With their help and guidance,
That sometimes prayers can be answered.
They mightn't realize it,
And I didn't want to admit it,
My mind was messed up,
And my heart ached badly,
Even just for someone to speak to,
A person to call a friend,
A group to which I belonged.
With their friendships now I know,
Nothing will be the same.
Now I've knocked down the brick wall that made the tunnel,
And found the sun bright at the end.
To these few people,
Who know who they are,
I have only one short message.
Thank You for being my friend.
For this alone,
I will never forget you
