A year older today
And I have nothing much
To show for it
Except that I am happy,
Happier as can be.

People tell me
What a great life I've led so far.
Yet I don't see it that way
I just know that I live my life
The way I know how.

I am greatful to everyone
Who has touched and will touch
My simple existence.
I would never be the way I am now
Without the people who matter to me.

As I stand on the threshold of today
My strength has been renewed
My resolve has been set
I welcome the day
With a smile on my face.
