I opened up the newspaper today I didn't like what I read..
I bowed down my head..
a young mother was found dead..

a newborn was found in a dumpster..
how can society create such a monster..
a five year old deaf child was molested...
as of yet no one has been arrested..

a grandmother was brutally beaten and raped...
an alert was out that an armed convict just escaped..
was extremely dangerous and carrying a loaded gun...
a young father was the victim of a hit and run..

at the end of town a train derailed..
due to a malfunction something failed..
a young student was found dead due to crack...
another clear across the way was found with a knife in his back..

in the school yard during recess..
there was a bloody mess..
two rivals from opposite gangs...
killed each other with a round of bangs...

three innocent children were killed in the attack..
no prayer in the world could ever bring them back...
at a convienience store..
the owner was found dead on the floor..

------- Author's Notes -------

if you can find some time in your day...
if possible let's gather at seven...
together... where ever we are... let's pray..
send it up to heaven...
for all the victims of any crime..
and the loved ones they left behind...

A "Wake Call" very perceptive writting!

Terrie,

So, very true, the newspapers, the T.V. its always seems to be the same, the only change, seems to be the names. I can predict for the most part, tomorrow's news, and all that we will on the T.V.'s evening news, nothing seems to change, except the names.

However, there is a bright spot in all of this, because of your fore thought or perhaps, your back thought, at seven they will no longer be forgotten names, at seven, I will look up at heaven and remember them all, though I knew very few.

Terrie, thats for the humanitarian, "Wake Up Call."

Another truth

Very true and sad that people have to go through this. Good writing Terrie. All I remember is the saying "Having a death means there was a life."
