Alone

A path I chose not to follow,
feelings I push down inside.
I've lost my will to go on,
but I've still got my pride.
I've been handed different lives,
I set them all aside.
My hands still reach out empty,
but I've still got my pride.
I could live my life the way others choose,
rushing with the tide;
I'd still be questioned and abused,
but I'd still have my pride.
No matter where I turn,
I look for someone on my side;
I could look for miles and there'd be no one,
but I'd still have my pride.
