My Eyes
8 June, 2001
Author: Tonya Dzierzon
They say eyes are the key to one's soul
To shut mine against the world is my goal
They say there's a wall of mystere and defence.
They do not realize it is only pretense.
To stop the hurt before the hurt stops me.
To end the pain and be the last to bleed.
To make others the victim instead of becoming the prey.
To be the strong one with the last word to say.
To shut off my emotions and avoid heartbreak.
To never open up and love, for my own sake.
And when Im dead many years hence,
They will realize there was no wall and it was only pretense
