Never Thought
29 September, 2003
Author: Tricia
She left her home, friends and family;
to serve our country and keep us free.
Six months she spent in that land of sand.
Then finally a break to come home and spend time
with family and friends.
We all thought she was safe now that she was home.
Little did we know, that walking across the street she
would be no more. The car came from no where, and hit her head on.
She lay in the hospital fighting for her life, on the day her brother
was to be wed. Her final good byes she said, as her family watched her leave this world.
Your fellow soldiers, morn for you today. They hold you dear to their hearts, for you served us all well. Not only was you a fellow soldier, but a friend and part of the family. You will be dearly missed Spc. Andrews; may all the happy times, replace this time of sadness for those who weep for you. Your smile will last forever, and your laughter heard everywhere.
------- Author's Notes -------
This poem is partially true. A lady soldier, that was in my fiancee's unit. Was sent home for leave the 22 of September,03. Friday the 26th she was struke by a car on Highway 69 in Kansas City, and passed away Saturday the 27th. The day of her brothers wedding. Her death impacted many lifes, both of her birth family and her family of soldiers in Kuwait. They will all miss her dearly. The soldiers of the 129th Trans(and the companies combined with them) held a memorial for Spc. Andrews Sunday. All the details in this poem are not factual, yet it tells what had happened. God bless all our soldiers and their families. |

Martin Vann (171.75.221.109) -- Wednesday, October 1 2003, 02:36 pm Tricia, Had it not been for your tribute to Spc. Andrews, we would not have known. Now we share her passing and the loss to her friends, loved ones and I can;t imagine the pain her brother felt, not to have her there as expected, but I know her spirit and love were felt. Thank you for letting us know, I will at this time, pause and say a prayer them all. ...................., Amen. MartinV |
