Battles
5 January, 2004
Author: Tzuhsi
There are scars on my body
Where I cut myself
To see if I was real
To see if I was somebody
The pain was short
Didn't last long
I used the razor blade
And cut down my arm
In a couple of weeks they will begin to fade and heal
But I will keep cutting
Because of the pain I feel
Scars on the outside
That are getting harder to see
But more scars on the inside
Fighting battles to be free

Pamela (66.38.146.204) -- Thursday, January 8 2004, 04:34 am I am stunned - in a good way - by this poem. I read the last four lines about ten times and thought about their profound meaning. The idea that you have to bleed in order to feel real is frightening, but honest. I do not know firsthand of the pain that causes someone to cut themselves, but when I read this poem, I somehow understood. |
tzuhsi (205.188.209.40) -- Saturday, January 10 2004, 05:14 am thanks pamela for your comment it is hard for anyone who does not cut to understand the turmoil you go through everyday should I cut should I not. It is a hard disease to fight and I hope others don't have to wear the scars on the out and on the in as I do....thanks again it makes me feel good esp from a non cutter to understand what I go through on a daily basis |
Pamela (66.38.146.204) -- Saturday, January 10 2004, 08:29 am Believe it or not, sometimes to bear scars and "battle wounds" can be a reminder that you are a survivor. The fact that you are battling this disease and taking the courage to ask for help is enough to make me believe that you can do it. I think that this poem is just one of many steps to recovery - but it's definitely a big one :O) Great job again. |
