Concerto
7 July, 2002
Author: Will Berry
I was twenty and one,
Before I heard silence,
True silence,
A symphony of silence,
Me, the city waif,
Standing out on the prairie, Listening to the wind,
Winds of sweetness,
Indeed christened as I listened,
A lyricism had begun,
A maestro in those western hills,
The prairie's setting sun,
No other sound to pervade,
No urban sounds to invade,
Only a harmony to be heard,
Needing just the wind,
To carry the melody,
Of silence,
Again to go,
I must go,
To listen and cry,
Before I die,
Concerto.
