The Usual Suspects
2 July, 2002
Author: Will Berry
I approached the old man in the court house,
"Pardon, sir, a questions if I may,
"Could you tell me who is under indictment today?"
He answered directly,
"Bub, there is an accounting firm they're trying make squirm,
"And at least one CEO that I know,
"Criminals today have a clean-cut face,
"The type police don't have to mace,
"You know, it's easier to loot,
"When you're wearing a 2K suit,"
The old man let out a sigh with a tear in his eye,
"Give me the old days of Bonnie and Clyde,
"When all of society could share their ride,"
He continued his praise,
"Bub, crime was crime in those days,"
He wiped his brow, "Look at us now,
"Crime today lacks yesterday's harmonics,
"It is concealed and congealed,
"In murky and distended economics,
"Yes, my eyes are old but they can see,
"The value of a college degree,"
The old man advanced one more thought,
"And, Bub, none of these New Wave hoods will ever hang,
"Or bust their back on a state road gang."
