Forgotten

My soul has been forgotten
my name nobody knows.
My life was wasted trying to find something that was never there
A sight nobody would see...my face.
A life in solitude I spent my days
no knowing the color of sunshine
or seeing the smiles in a persons eyes.
I was terrified of others and expected the same from them.
Beauty I was told, lies in the eyes of the beholder
but no one ever spoke of what beauty was to those without that brutally truthful feature.
Those without eyes, I came to imagine
did not have beauty
nor did they ever embrace it in its cruelness.

------- Author's Notes -------

I went to a writing workshop last week and we were told to write about an article in the newspaper. I chose to write about an article about a man with a flesh-eating disease and had no eyes.

Emotions

Yes this is definitely a painful experience. To feel useless, and invisible. No one sees you, no one remembers you. Darn, this is a lovely poem, but also sad at the same time!

Nice one, Your Melody!!!!!
