Scarred Hearts
1 August, 1998
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
Through insecurities of times past
I doubt promises of today will last
I see facades in every face
And I wonder....
I try not to doubt and long to trust
Feelings to close to be colors of rust
But for some reason memories won't erase
And so I sit and wonder...
It hurts not to know what you think
And yet I feel you, when your feelings sink
Still it feels our lives are interlaced
This too makes me wonder
Any distance seems to far
But the feelings are bought by a heart that's scarred
And yet I feel my heart race
So I wonder....
Though reasons say not to trust learnt thoughts
Sometimes left alone I feel so lost
For your love I search deep for a trace
And I wonder....
Regardless of all these imperfections
You love me through all my transitions
My love remains safe with my heart encased
Yet in love, I wonder
