Shattered Glass
2 August, 1998

As the shattered glass fell upon the floor
I could see the reflection of your sadness
Knowing the pain you held inside

I could do nothing but watch
As you worked through your feelings
Sorting out the pain and anger for yourself
I could not help you

The Shards of glass pointed as your words
Were thrust upon my heart
Tearing at my core as you fought for your sanity
A tear appeared in the corner of my eye
All I could do what watch

I feel for your pain, though I know it not
As I pick up the fragile remains of your heart
A drop of my own blood falls
Mingling with your shattered dreams
I feel for you

How helpless you appear right now
A saddened broken man
So I stand beside you now
Picking up the pieces
For that's all I can do

You continue to try and mask your pains
And while looking at the shattered glass
I wonder what part of you still remains
Or is the cut too deep

Thank-you Nikki

I am glad this poem touched you. A broken person you love is hard to watch. But sometimes just being there for them when they reach out and are ready to heal is the best thing a friend or family member can do..

Thank-you
