Alone Yet Together
10 January, 1999
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
Holding back past insecurities
Shielding away the memories
Longing for some common ground
Walking in the quietness
Silent sobbing the only sound
Even in the silence we linger together
Two hearts beating in unison
Once Lovers walking in stride
Wishing on a single star
Now a never-ending emotionless ride
Desperately seeking Love
Looking to share what's left
Remnants of tattered dreams
Seem lost amongst the long ago stolen treasures
The re-finding not always as easy as it seems
Alone yet together we stay
Savoring the small comfort that is found
Secure in the promises of forever
The missed passion is overlooked
The heart bonds never completely severed
Sitting together, yet alone
Sometimes questioning why
As life passes it seems so absurd
Maybe forever should have been
Just another word
------- Author's Notes -------
Love can go stagnant, yet the heart remains firm to the promises of long ago And in security of contentment you remain together yet alone |
