I The Castle
21 June, 1999
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
I the castle have seen the fall
I have seen the rise to power
I have watched as the flags hit the ground
I have seen as the blood has spilled to the earth
I know of the peoples greed
I know of the pride and glory
I know of the driven love of the land
I know of the horrors unnamed
I have seen through these windows the ends of so many
I have watched the tortuous deaths
I have seen the kings fall and rise again
I have seen demises planned
I have heard the pipers battle songs
I have heard the marching to the time of the drums
I have heard sound of the swords upon flesh
I have heard the cries of the damned
I have seen the births of great kings
I have watched so mighty be crowned
I have watched them marry and watched them die
I have listened as the multitudes mourned
I the castle have seen it all
I have seen the glory, the death, the pain
I stand witness to what is, and has been
And only as silent reminder, I remain

Inspired by my trip to Scotland... Sometimes you can't help but wonder what the wondrous places so many hundreds of years of age would say, if only they could talk |
