Autumn Night

vinebar

Another leaf drifts slowly to the ground as Autumn hastens
Bright hues of Red and yellow are her favored
Darting in and about the trees she paints
Each green leaf in the cool crisp night she taints

She stands back in admiration of her nights work
Another dab of orange here and maybe burgundy there
She plans another coat tomorrow before brother Frost comes along
For when he shows, all her beautiful work will be gone

Frost is so mean she thinks to her self
As She puts the finishing touches on a maple
To destroy all my beautiful heart felt work
I will slow him this year if I'm able

Father Winter behind him will try to keep peace
Coloring the ruined trees in crystal white
"A place for all in its season" he always says
As he changes the trees to such a beautiful sight

"All is fair" says Mother Nature as she will again make anew
Tired of his blah colors she sprays in the pinks, greens, and blues
Exchanging the colors in and out through the summers days
Until the night air, again turns cool, she stays

Breaks over of contemplating and back to work Autumn goes
Finishing touches here and there before full morning glows
She puts away her paints and brush as soon as she sees light
She steps back then disappears as she calls it an Autumn night
