Looking Back
22 March, 2000

I look back quietly reading
My past in words before me
A tear may fall, a smile may form
As simply I remember

What once brought pain is a memory now
And the joy, a warm place in my heart
I wonder, where did it come from
I wonder, when did it start

Maybe it just always was
The "is" and the "is not"
Opposites co-existing
And in the middle, there "is not"

A touch of love, a childhood prayer,
A voice heard in the night
How simply, we remember
How simply, we forgot

What now stands before us
Has stood there once before
The facades to which we cater
Will become who we are in the end

As I look back through the pages
Of all my have's, and my have not's
I remember what I have always had
It's the love, within my heart

------- Author's Notes -------

Sometimes we take for granted what we have. In times of sadness we forget. If only to remember the blessings more, instead of dwelling in the darkness, our hearts could release the miracles we seek. It takes love.. to give love ...to have love
