As I Look At You
2 April, 2000
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
Afraid to let the truth be known
As I look at you there before me
I avert my eyes as passion calls
Suddenly shy of you
The time is wrong for what we feel
Maybe once long ago
Or some far away tomorrow
Together we will be
Even if not destined for us
Still I treasure what is
For today my heart sings
And my spirit soars
So tonight I ponder, as I look at you
What should be, what would be, what may never be
And I cherish today
For the moment be ours
