Jenny Is Her Name
8 November, 2003
Author: Ben Laney
I see her at the coffee-shop
on her way she sometimes stops
and talks a while with me
I stand there with my paper cup
watching her bright eyes light up
as she tells me about her dreams
Jenny, Jenny, Jenny is her name
Jenny, Jenny, Jenny is her name
In a world so cold and dark
her heart stands out apart
Like a candle's burning flame
Jenny, Jenny, Jenny is her name
She told me that she has some frogs
And a pair of big, friendly dogs
and shared adventures they've been through
She also said her folks are gone
her Mom and Dad have both passed on
and I could not help but be moved
Jenny, Jenny, Jenny is her name
Jenny, Jenny, Jenny is her name
In a world so cold and dark
her heart stands out apart
Like a candle's burning flame
Jenny, Jenny, Jenny is her name
Tomorrow morning I'll get up
and go get some coffee in a cup
I'm hoping Jenny will be there
'Cause maybe she will talk with me
before she drives off in her jeep
into the early morning air
Jenny, Jenny, Jenny is her name
Jenny, Jenny, Jenny is her name
In a world so cold and dark
her heart stands out apart
Like a candle's burning flame
Jenny, Jenny, Jenny is her name
------- Author's Notes -------
I really do enjoy it when I meet friendly, smiling people who are not in such a big hurry that they can't stop and talk for a few moments. I like people of all kinds, and Jenny is one of a kind! So it's only fitting that this one is dedicated to..... |

Pamela (66.225.130.57) -- Thursday, November 13 2003, 01:06 am As always, what a wonderful poem. Good subject, kind of made me want to write one similar - I know many people like this and we are so fortunate to share their enthusiasm in everyday life :o) Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm about people who have enthusiasm...... |
Ben (67.122.249.168) -- Thursday, November 13 2003, 02:14 am Pamela, Thank you sooooo MUCH! I am pleased that you like my subject, Jenny, and glad to know you think this is "wonderful"! And, yes, I would encourage you to look closely at people, they can be a great source of inspiration. Part of the joy of living is observing these amazing creatures, humans! You might agree with me that they are living proof that God has a HUGE sense of humor! Some of the writing and poetry that touches me the deepest is about these everyday, ordinary beings that are walking around EVERYWHERE! Ha! Ha! Haaaaa! You are right, we are fortunate to share! I will look forward to reading your writings about some who inspire you! Thanks again! ***Ben |
