Flat Top Guitar

Author: Ben Laney
If it cost a dollar
to breathe a breath
I'd have to lay down
and meet my death,
But, thank God,
air is still free
So look out, sweet mamma,
"cause here I come
Runnin' as hard
as I can run
and I'm glad,
glad just to be
And I can do just fine
with this old flat top guitar of mine
You know I can take it anywhere
Up and down the line
with this old flat top guitar of mine
Getting along, we've got a song
to take us....from here to there
So goodbye Hollywood,
and so long vine
I'm goin' while I
still have my mind
Just where to
I don't know yet
You got far too many
dark, one-way streets
Too many eyes
that never sleep
I leave you
with no regrets
And I can do just fine
with this old flat top guitar of mine
You know I can take it anywhere
Up and down the line
with this old flat top guitar of mine
Getting along, we've got a song
to take us....from here to there
Now the man in the pawn shop
really likes me
I wanted twenty,
he gave me thirteen
Well, I guess he
was feelin' right
But I don't need the watch,
not any more
I can still tell ya
when sunshine pours
It's mo..or..nin'
And I'm alive!
And I can do just fine
with this old flat top guitar of mine
You know I can take it anywhere
Up and down the line
with this old flat top guitar of mine
Getting along, we've got a song
to take us....from here to there

Martin Vann (63.208.45.171) -- Thursday, October 30 2003, 04:44 pm Ben, With just a little music in our hearts, we can travel near and far, don't need no fancy cars, or bright neon lights, glad you got tired of the those, dark, one way streets and went home to life. Tonight, the air will be fresh and free, no road-tar in your heart tonight, just music, sweet music, from an old, flat-top guitar. My, Ben, how free you are. Very good work again? Gota go, need to get some of my own, work done, wolves still sniffin round my front door. MartinV |
Ben (67.123.253.123) -- Thursday, October 30 2003, 06:54 pm Yes, Martin, there is free air everywhere for those who care to have a share, or dare to walk around in boxer underwear so loud they cause a glare, making all the people stare! And you are right, simple is better! You don't have to be a rich man to enjoy the simple pleasures of life like air and sweeeet music! I thank you ever soooo much for your comment! I do really appreciate them amigo! ***Ben |
