Mother's Love
9 May, 2001
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
I was given life by another
You took me in as your own
You guided me endlessly
The only mother I've known
We've spent many years together
You have been like a best friend
Talked me through bad times
Till they were happy again
You've treated me fairly
You were there when I cried
You listened contentedly
And was stern when I lied
You taught me unconditional love
Something that I never had
You told me I was good
When the world made me feel bad
You offered advice
Though I often rebelled
But I really was listening
as youthful independence called
I feel many of my successes
Are due to you
You taught me to follow my dreams
And to them, to be true
I guess underneath...
What I'm trying to say
Is.. Thank-you for being you
And that to me the word mother means you

Della (24.25.246.196) -- Monday, July 28 2003, 12:57 pm We'll as reading your poem on Mother's Love really filled my heart with tears. It expresses so much about me and my mom relationship together. I am really very close to my mom more then anyone in the whole, and yes she is also my bestfriend. So I would like to ask your permission, rather I could use your poem to send to my mom, to let her know that every single word in the poem explains the true mother person she really is to me. |
