The Arrival Home
21 February, 2004
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
Hundreds stood there waiting
Some carried signs
Some carried banners
All carried a love and honor in their heart
What were they waiting for you ask?
They awaited their soldiers
They awaited beloved ones
The men who had fought for a cause
The night was cold and it was dark
It seemed they would freeze
It seemed like forever
But laughter and smiles lit the night
Soon the heroes arrived off of their plane
Our husbands and fathers
Our neighbors and friends
Met, they were, with cheers of welcome
They waved as they passed
Some faces smiling
Some faces weary and tired
The families reunited walked hand in hand
..into the night
