Rest
27 December, 2003
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)

vinebar

I sit and wait for the morning
Till my eyes can feel the heaviness
Till sleep invades my mind
Yet it seems never to come

I feel as if I am fighting the daylight
Wishing to not see the sun
That I be bothered
By its intrusions of light

In the silence of the darkness
I am allowed the peace
Uninterrupted I am allowed to think
To exist only for me

Or is it just a childish game I play
Refusing to give in to the sleep I need
Rebelling against that which I desire most
Rest for my weary soul
