The Flock
25 October, 2002
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
I watched a flock of birds
that gathered over head
Hundreds of voices together
I wonder what they said
I watched them hop from tree to tree
flock.. then hop again
I wonder what they were feeling
as summer reached it's end
I watched as arrived the stragglers
perhaps slower than the rest
Or were they meeting from some other place
To gather for their quest
All at once the singing stopped
and they all took to the air
A huge shadow of blackened flight
I watched till they were out of sight
