Epitaphs
2 June, 2002
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
Forever now my body sleeps
My Spirit has moved on
Know that forever we'll never part
My love will always exist within your heart
-------------------
No longer trouble yourself with good-byes
For only the shell of me has expired
In belief and love I will always survive
--------------------
Sleep well my dearest, sleep well.
--------------------
Treasure yourself always
As I have treasured you
--------------------
Remember me as I smiled
Remember me as I laughed
Remember me as the good times shared
Remember me, but never sad
--------------------
It has been a hero's journey
Doing the best each day
And now that the day is done
I look to the sunset
...and smile
--------------------
There are those who have been loved
There are those who have been saved
But the one's who are truely remembered
Are the one's, whom of themselves, gave
--------------------
Alas, my time has come
Alas, my job is done
I always strived to do the best
Now alas, a time to rest.
--------------------
You can dream of things afar
You can catch a rising star
But a heart that is full of love
Is sent from the Lord above
--------------------
Here lays the heart of a poet
His spirit now lives with his dreams
------- Author's Notes -------
One of my passions is to walk through old cemetaries. To remember the forgotten people who have gone before me. I have always enjoyed tombstone's with epitaphs. To me they should reflect the person buried beneath, so I decided to write a few of my own. |
