Tornado Twists
30 April, 2002
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)

vinebar

Wind torn trees barely standing
Twisted and ripped from the earth
Once sentries of an older time
Now left dying upon the dirt

Reduced to broken toothpicks
Worn, abused, and bent
Mother nature blew her temper
Destroying her very best

No more will they stand tall
With branches holding up the sky
Nor will they paint the rainbows
Or help birds birth and fly

So sad to see them twisted
Laying broken upon the ground
Hundreds of years wasting away
Till new growth from the death is found
