Simpler Times
15 September, 2001
author: Rebecca Ditch-Hammack (aka Dreamer)
It's times like these my thoughts roam to you
another time and place where I was safe in your arms
Our world was of roses, moonlight dancing, and fun
we didn't think of war, or hate, anger and revenge
But that was then and this is now
as the world readies for what may be the worst
I long now for the simpler times
where dreams reside and horrors wouldn't dare
I wonder for you now, where you might be
sleeping snugly in your bed so far away
do you feel the fear I do right now
Or does your life differ so from mine
Realities of war are everyday events there
as you line your apartment readying for the poisoned air
Alerts over here ready for a time of unknown change
Will our life now become as yours
Afraid of a forgotten purse or wallet
instead of looking for a gratified owner
do we live in fear forever that it will happen here
that war will rule our lives and terrorism invade
Oh how I long for one more dance with you in the moonlight
where we could run through the Fields of Gold
A place where innocence was not yet lost
where a world of peace and dreams still lived

I can't say much to you, except, hold on to those you love and I know, some are now, far away. We have our faith, and like our love, we must "all" hold it close to our hearts, I fear, the time is coming near, the worst, of all our fears. Yet, faith, is all we have, a truth on to our selves, I pry that will get us through. MartinV |
