Let Me Remember
30 April, 2004
Author: Teresa Ortberg
I remember you as you were in the last autumn.
I remember you with my soul clenched in that sadness of mine that you know.
In my sky at twilight, you are like a cloud and your form and color are the way I love them.
Here, I remember you in dark pines.
I want to do to you what spring does with the cherry tree.
Here,is the solitude from which you are absent.
My life grows tired, hungry to no purpose.
I love what I do not have, you are so far.
My heart searches for you nonetheless.
My heart looks for you and you are not with me
Your voice, your body, your infinite eyes.
My words become stained with love.
I see myself forgotten, like old anchors.
My voice does not touch you.
My soul is not satisfied it lost you.
Let me remember you as you were before you existed
For you will be anothers.
