The Back Row
30 April, 2004
Author: Emilee
She slips into an old church, she's heard of once before,
slides silently into the back row.
Never heard the name of Jesus, she's scared but she knows,
she needs a savior, she can't walk back out the door.
And the Lord touched her, and the Lord said,
"I've been waiting for you, I always knew you'd come,
I knew I'd see you here, in the back row all alone.
I've been calling for you, calling you back home,
and I've waited so long to see you, in the back row."
He comes in one late evening, in the middle of midnight mass
he walked up to the alter, holding his hat.
Facing all the people, he began to speak,
and surprisingly his voice was strong not weak.
He said "Don't you realize, that you're missing out on God?"
All the people listened, but they soon forgot.
With his head bowed down in defeat,
he walked to the back row, and quickly took a seat.
And the Lord said,
"I've been waiting for you, I always knew you'd come,
to try to change these people's minds, try to make them strong.
Son,it makes me proud, more than you'll ever know,
to see you sitting here, in the back row."
As we walk through life, obstacles will come,
sometimes we think that we will never be strong.
And sometimes we will win, sometimes we will lose,
but the Lord Jesus, is always here for you.
And the Lord said:
"I've been waiting for you, I always knew you'd come.
Just from sitting in the back row, look at all you've done.
You are my children and I want you to know,
I loved you even when, you were in the back row."
------- Author's Notes -------
~This poem/story was actually a song, but I wanted to post it here! The 1st verse it kinda self explanitory, but the 2nd verse it about a guy who goes into a Catholic church (nothing against any Catholics..i love you!) and he's just telling them what he thinks! And it's ultimalty about God and how He always waits for us, and even if we start off scared in the back row, He knows the plans He has for us!~God Bless~emilee |
