Only September
1 September, 2003
Author: Ben Laney
Dark clouds are rolling
Across the sky
How did the summer
Slip by so fast?
I had been hoping
For more sunshine
Before Autumn's chill
Wilted the grass
Every mile I'm making
Pulls me away
A little farther
>From broken dreams
While every step I'm taking
Brings winter days
A whole lot closer
Than I want them to be
It's only September
And already the wind
Is blowing cold
It feels more like December
Though the leaves
Are just turning to gold
It's only September
I've still got the winter to go
