Much Too Blue
8 December, 2002
Author: Maranda Berkley
I always meant to tell you
Climbed to reach your height
But branches break, fall to the sand below me
I float because I'm much too light
Waves they reach to get me
I look up, your baby blue eyes shining through stars
The water rushes closer
I reach for something but it's all much too far
I'm resting on the water
I'm not sinking and my beat is calm
It's much too serene and my mind worries
Is this how it gets before the storm
But your eyes get closer
And the branches I can reach
I'm climbing swiftly now
Gliding further from the beach
I reach out my hand to touch your eyes
But things aren't always as they seem
I open my own to find you staring at me
You're real, I sigh, my struggle to keep you was just a dream
