A Heart Like A Stone

Author: Maranda Berkley
The boat rocks steady
The rain's pour heavy
I'm out in the middle of nowhere
And I'm the only soul left
It's the end of my world
The water's filling in quick
Turned into 3 feet from a mere drip
And I fight to keep it out
I curse the rain sent from above
For keeping me unsafe, unsound
I'm choking on my breath
Fighting my body's death
As I sink down below
Sucking in air to keep my lungs safe
Terrified of the water's blow
My boat drifts away
My body sinks, then slowly sways
And rises back up to the surface
I wonder if I am actually beating death
Or if I should stop hoping
I close my eyes not wanting to see
When all of a sudden I realize I can breath
And my eyes see you
I'm resting in your arms
My heart is beating, it's slow and calm
I ask if you're an angel sent from above
But you say no, that you're as real as your love
That you're sure you saved my life because you know
My heart at one time was heavy like a rock
But my trust in you with love in return, caused it to float
It's funny how life can change
From one day to the next
All due to a little fai
