My World, My Rules
24 September, 2002
Author: Maranda Berkley
I am only who I want to be
Never anything for you
I'd fall back as far as I could get
Before I'd listen to a single demand
You command me as best you know how
To do what you know
Be someone new rather than me
And I just glare straight into your eyes
The love turning to hate
I do think change isn't so bad when you do it for yourself
But when you change for the satisfaction of others
Your individuality is raped
I'll never be what you asked me to be
I'll never conform to your rules of the world
I'll change when I'm good and ready
Or I'll stay the same because it's my choice
I am better for myself than anyone else
I rule my own world
