Two Worlds
4 August, 2002
Author: Maranda Berkley
All you notice more when you're younger
With little feet traveling the larger than life world
The flowers each smell and color
You would know with tiny eyes closed
Each crack to jump over to avoid breaking mommy's back
Every theme song to the cartoon shows
Your little heart shudders when you sense danger
When you know someone you love and care for
Has been hurt
Your tiny mind knows everything at that age
You are required to know
You notice more when you're older
With big feet running from the larger than life world
The wounded bodies smell and paleness
You would know with tired eyes closed
Each pit to jump over to avoid breaking your back
Every emergency siren that blows
Your battered heart is repeatedly beaten
When you get trampled by danger
Continually getting hurt
Your worn mind knows far more at that age
Than you care to know
What is the best of two worlds?
Would you rather be young and naive?
Not knowing what harsh reality's
Are awaiting in the big bad world
Would you rather be older and all knowing?
Preparing for the pain and destruction
That's waiting in the big bad world
Is it best to be hit all at once unprepared with eyes closed?
Or have them wide open ready again for the force from the hurt ?
Is there a best of two worlds?
