A Road Dog Like Me
17 August, 2003
Author: Ben Laney
I have been
In the rain and wind
I have been
Through the wilderness, too
Down a highway
That twists and bends
Now here I am
Looking at you
You're dressed up
In silk and lace
Eyes bright
As a diamond's gleam
You know you'd
Look so out of place
Next to a
Highway hound like me
Just take a look
At my face
See these lines
Around my eyes
I'm worn
Like a wheel in a race
And I'm rollin'
A thousand miles behind
Notice the heart
On my sleeve
It's hangin'
By a burning thread
You ought to
Turn around and leave
While you're still
A million miles ahead
What would
An angel like you
Do with
A road dog like me?
What is
The matter with you,
Don't you have eyes to see?
Baby, I'm
Beat up and battered,
I'm a tattered sail on this black-top sea
What would
An angel like you
Do with a road dog like me?

To Road Dog (171.75.206.199) -- Monday, August 18 2003, 03:31 pm Ben, You used a fine brush when you colored this canvass, really, liked the line, "I'm a tattered sail on this black-top sea." Sounds like a good song, to me. Good work, for a road-dog MartinV |
Ben (67.123.252.211) -- Monday, August 18 2003, 11:41 pm Martin, thank you for your comment on "Road Dog"! It's encouraging to hear that it "sounds like a song", especially in just the written form. Your words are greatly appreciated! Who knows? Maybe it will wind up on a Cd someday!! |
