The Light Turns
5 May, 2002
Author: Maranda Berkley
The light turns from white to black
And the walls are built all around me
Keeping me from the outside world
My life, my love, friends and my family
The light shuts off
Keeping me in the dark
Lies and whispers swarm over me
Eating me alive
My flesh crawls and my heart stalls
I start coughing and falling down
The light turns from black to white
And I suddenly see everything
All those people who love
The birds in the heavens above
The wall once built begins tumbling
The light turns on
And I feel so free
See all around me
The world that is so amazing
Chapters of my life fly by
Page by page
And I never know when the light
Will be on or go away
But I will make it through anything
Struggle to stay sane
For this life is my own
That's something I'd never change
