Spotlight Fades Away
16 April, 2002
Author: Maranda Berkley
turn the other cheek
look the other direction
act like none of it matters
like none of it bothers you
take a step back
try to make your footsteps go forward
your legs go in reverse
living in the past
instead of living for tomorrow
life seems so harsh
for a shallow broken girl
her skin is so cold
but not as cold as her soul
playing the role of a victim
as everyone else plays the fool
but that's just how she likes it
to be the one who always rules
always controls
using life's people as tools
manipulative little girl
always using and uncaring
damning her own soul
but the day will come
her life in the spotlight done
and she'll burn in hell
for the lives she's ruined
the hell on earth created
she'll quickly burn up
and fade away
