Stoplight Green
13 January, 2003
Author: Maranda Berkley
we race along
and stop at red
but don't proceed
when the light turns green
we are stuck somewhere in-between
the light turns yellow
and starts to flash
waking our minds
to images ahead
you might be leaving
and I'll be stuck where I am
fighting your hell
and the demons of your head
with no path to return
and nothing to create
a false paradise of heaven
for you to dwell
i'm little more than nothing
and you are far more
than you believe
and how I love
is far less than what I grieve
bastards of authority
strip you bear
robbing your life of cares
but there will still be
ones waiting for you
at yellow lights
begging them to turn green
to push the mode to its senses
and kill all your fiends
but struggle it will
to get a grasp on the right color
and stay flashing at yellow
a little while longer
