Daddy

This is my name
And it makes me who I am
But when you scream my name
Or merely say it
I fold away in shame
How could something so secure
Make me feel so false
Just by your tone of voice
So much pain is caused
Back away from me
And run into the night
Never to return
Backed out of my life
Isn't this the way it should be
A loner left alone
A crimson heart left to bleed
Without it's only home
I pictured a fairytale
But a nightmare is what unfolds
An everyday struggle
A game of tug and war
I talk to Jesus Christ in my dreams
While I sleep
As the demons lurk under
My bed praying my soul is
Theirs to keep
He tells me to forgive and forget
That forever is a new day
But I cry to him saying
I'm like a mouse in a maze
I keep losing my way
He tells me he'll guide me
Like the father I never had
That he'll be there to hold my hand
And when I fall he'll help me stand
He'll lead me into a perfect light
Away from the world of the damned
It's so hard to forgive you
And it's difficult to rise to each day
But with my faith I'll grow strong
As the lord mends my heart while I pray
