Everything about me seemed strange
My own hands looked old
Scarred and twisted
I got up to walk to the bathroom
And fell from the rush
That came over me
My face was hot with tears
My eyes burned from their sting
I felt different than before
Kind of like a child
Afraid of the dark
Asking my father
If my blanket really could protect me
Now my love is my protection
But I still have that feeling
But with others swirling around with it
I'm not even sure who I am
I FEEL different
Weaker
But stronger
He pulls me down again
Brushes my tears with his hands
His eyes are so bright
When he sees me
Like it's my glow reflecting off them
He sees the glow
I don't
He asks me again
Holding my hand so I can't get away
I feel so old when he's this serious
I feel like I'm not really here
Like this is a dream
And I'm standing around watching
This scared little girl
Who has to grow up real fast
And say, "yes" to the man she loves
Before she makes the biggest mistake
And loses him
So I jump back in that girl
And stare at my glow
Admire it
Clear my throat
Take a few deeps breaths
Tell myself that whatever happens
I'll make it through
And say, "Yes, I will marry you"
Before it's too late
