One More Day In Santa Cruz
31 July, 2003
Author: Ben Laney
Sun shining
On the bay
Rainbow sails
Rolling on the sea
I'm thinking,
Thinking I might stay
Stay one more day
Before I leave
Waves breaking
At the shore
Children running
On the warm, white sand
Hey, I could stay,
Stay one day more
It would mean
A small change of plans
Got this dream
In my head
Calling me back,
Back to the road
But, for tonight,
I'll make my bed
For one more day
Before I go
One more day
In Santa Cruz
Watching the sea-birds glide
On the wind
One more day
In Santa Cruz
Before I hit
That highway again

Mark Spencer (205.188.208.102) -- Sunday, August 10 2003, 12:40 pm You can enjoy the sunsets on the beach and then head on back up Hwy. 9 to Ben Lomond or Boulder Creek away from the city and the hustling San Jose mob commuting back over 17 after thrashing our beaches. You can stare up at the stars, and listen to crickets chirp, and the next day, head on down to the beach again. I used to live in Felton and remember the routine well. I live in Capitola now. Closer to the beach, but too far away from the crickets. Mark Spencer |

KitKatrina (68.116.64.38) -- Monday, August 11 2003, 06:38 am I liked your poem. Since I live in Santa Cruz I know what you mean and what you are describing. Great job! |
Ben (67.123.244.173) -- Monday, August 11 2003, 07:55 am Thank you, KitKatrina for your very nice comment, I really appreciate it! Yes, I have lived there and I still live in Santa Cruz County-only I'm in the Santa Cruz Mountains now in Boulder Creek. We are fortunate indeed! So, Howdy, neighbor, and thank you again! |
