No Clue

Building and stating things is very nice.
People that read text books.
Are the ones with all the advice.
What they think is right according to the text book.
Is wrong according to experinces book.
To know what is best for people you have to experience
it yourself.
For people that build things or say things to help, go
to the horses mouth and ask their idea.
To help you have to walk in their shoes.
------- Author's Notes -------
Wrote this after I was out on my scooter, for disabled people and noticed how many places that aren't accessable for disabled people only for people with two good legs. They need a disabled person to design buildings. |

Martin Vann (4.244.102.95) -- Tuesday, May 18 2004, 02:08 pm Barb, You make very good sense, and I agree with you. I have know several people in my office building who use wheel chairs. One young woman, would slip from her chair into her car and By-Herself, fold and place the wheel chair, behind the seat. I would help when I was out on the lot, but she always managed to do it by herslef. My hat is off to those who are handicapped..., by some many educated fools. My Hat Is Off To You. MartinV |

barb (209.112.22.40) -- Tuesday, May 18 2004, 05:17 pm Iit's funny how they say we must make life better for the handy cap yet they keep making things that are made for capable people. Grrr |
Meridian (64.12.116.200) -- Tuesday, May 18 2004, 06:17 pm Hey Barb! Yes Martin summed it up very well in the first comment! Nice writing as always! Like your poem title, "No Clue", in order to for them and others to understand where you're coming from, you and the non-handicapped, would have to swap places, to get to know what it feels like in everyday life..... Just because someone is disabled, doesn't mean they're incapable.... They have a right for their needs to be met! Great one Barb! Smile Barb! Meri |
Clive (63.184.96.169,) -- Tuesday, May 18 2004, 06:24 pm I' was once in a wheelchair, suffered a stroke back in 1990, After rehab I do now walk again. But I totally agree that people who have to live daily with a challenge should be consulted before anything is constucted. Sorry Martin can we use the tearm Challenged not Handicapped, Challenged is a term we all face. Great words Barbara |
