As you look down you never to me speak,
Sympathy you give; but that you can keep,
You talk to my friend, who pushes this chair I’m stuck in,
Asking of me while I’m here and I could tell,
I too have a brain that’s works quiet well,
I can talk if you ask I’d tell,
To annoy me you do so this I say out loud,
Hey down here I have a voice too,

A step that needs a ramp can’t you see,
How many of you walk sitting down,
It’s the only way I can get around,
I’d like to shop in this store you see,
But again I’m confined as the steps are too high,
If you’d ask I pleasantly tell,
Build it this way and all could then buy,

People stair and some look with horror,
Should you not be away where nurses can care?
I’m like you; just a couple of differences,
My legs don’t work like they once did before,
I talk, I think, I work pay taxes too,

You think you’re better through and through,
Today I closed a deal making money,
Then went on home in my car as before,
My children gave hug’s nothing has changed,
At time I tell them NO like I always did.

------- Author's Notes -------

Back in 1990 I had a surgery that.....
..a/ put me into a coma for a few weeks,
..b/ Left my brain gasping for a flow of blood for to long, so this resulted in a Stroke.
..c/ It took some months to learn to walk, even more to talk again, but with determination and God watching over I overcome many challenges then.
Everyday we all face a challenge or two because were all different some face them all day but still get through.

This is my soap Box and why I choose the career I'm in Social Work.
Thank you all Clive

Sentimental

Enjoyable and Emotional! Great work in all seriousness! Sorry about your stroke in 1990, but overjoyed to see your lovely results.... About how you came out, because God was watching over you! I'm glad things worked out okay for your condition! That was 14 years ago, and what a testimony it is to still be alive! That's a blessing right there! To still live and tell about your breakthrough! GO AHEAD CLIVE!!!
I have all my hands up for this congratulatory poem! Sweeeeeet!

Yes I understand the tears,
I still do cry over this even though I now can walk. I have not forggoten that it took me to lose my speach the use of my legs and my left side, to realize just what they ment to me, If only for an hour could others lose apart they then may think twice.
Have a great day and take care of you.

To be down, then, stand again, your stronger now

Clive,

I have known many, like you through the grace of God. I have seen the young and healthy, with a taste for life and searching for love. I have seen them die in combat, sent home, what was left. Seen familes cry, then contiune on. The one thing I have never seen, is the strength in myself, that I saw in them and now in you. Your words of truth, touch many hearts, like Terrie, who says the secret is out. There is no secret, about how we feel, poets know, that is the way we are, we share more than words, we share our hearts not secretly, but openly, as you have done so, passionately.

Martin Thank You

Martin thank you for your ver kind words,
We all have an inner strength, I guess in times of challenge is when we know it's there to draw on and get us back to were or near were we belong.
Yes I agree that as poets who put down words of expression , feeling and understanding we give a lot more of ourselves than the reader knows.
Again Thank you
take care Clive
