So Long, Silver Canyon
22 July, 2003
Author: Ben Laney
As I was leaving
Out of Silver Canyon
Headed for Houston
To start my life again
I thought I felt something
Just like rain-drops falling
Falling and touching
Warm upon my skin
The stream was running
Down through Silver Canyon
Rushing and churning
Over the rocks and sand
And in it's reflection
I saw the horizon
And dark clouds rolling
Slowly over the land
I passed the cabin
There in Silver Canyon
Where she is staying
With the new love she found
And just for a moment
I thought I saw someone
With one hand waving
But I didn't slow down
Later that evening
Thoughts of Silver Canyon
Were weighing heavy
On my heart and my mind
As the sun was setting
On the road to Houston
I started singing
Just what I felt inside
And I sang......
So long, Silver Canyon,
Goodbye you old, dead dreams
My day's been slow in coming
But I know it will yet be
Stand strong over that woman
With eyes as deep as the sea
So long, Silver Canyon,
Goodbye you old, dead dreams
