One Second
25 May, 2004
Author: Teresa Ortberg
One second in immortal time,
Marked by love, noted by God,
Who gathered the spirits to behold
And celebrate such existence.
One second without reservation or condition,
impeccable, flawless, absolute.
For one second, a flame raged, wild and free.
Now, it's an ember of memory and longing.
For one second the universe shifted to it's rightful place
And all was right in the world.
One second that defied logic and explanation,
now is tainted with distance and uncertainty.
