Grandma's Door
6 July, 2003
Author: Ben Laney
Back in my younger days
I was a foolish child
Throwing my youth away
Running around half-wild
Still I had a place
Where I could always go
Anytime, night or day,
To get out of the cold
She didn't like my ways
And she would tell me so
She'd say, "One of these days, boy,
You're gonna run out of rope"
But, when-ever I knocked,
She came and let me in
Her heart was never locked
No matter what I did
Grandma's Door
Would always open for me
Grandma's door
Was a haven for me
I could count on Grandma
When-ever I needed a place
To eat, sleep, or just to be
Grandma's door
Would always open for me
My Grandma's door
Was a haven for me

Crimson Angel (12.249.164.87) -- Friday, July 11 2003, 08:17 pm I like this, Ben. My grandma's still living, and everyone else around her, takes her for granted. This poem's reminding me of how much my grandma does for us, and that we should look at that. Nice writing. :) |

Cheryl (80.6.241.120) -- Saturday, August 2 2003, 11:36 pm This is such a lovely poem about your Grandma. It feels so warm and welcoming. I wish I could remember my grandparents with such fondness but sadly they all died when I was very young and didn't have the opportunity to spend such times with them. |
