Claire
2 July, 2003
Author: Ben Laney
On her mantle
Sits a clock
It's as silent
As a rock
The hands are frozen
At twelve-o-eight
Claire knows
The hour is late
Claire has cats
Inside the house
All too fat
To catch a mouse
>From under tables
And under chairs
Cat eyes
Are watching Claire
Claire once
Was a postal clerk
Now Claire's
Too old to work
And no mail came
For Claire today
Not from near
Or far away
And Claire is not
So happy these days
All the friends who were there
Have slowly slipped away
Claire sits by the window
At that old piano
That she never plays
And Claire is not
So happy these days

Ben (67.123.244.245) -- Thursday, July 10 2003, 07:29 pm Claire lives in the hills near me. I helped her around her house with some things she's too old to do, painting, carpentry and such. She had one real love in her life, and for Claire one was enough. Thank you very much for your comments. I do apreciate them a lot! |
