Thank You God

Mom this poem is for you
You have suffered so much pain
Neglect, heartache, confusion and shame
You brought me into this world mom
And loved me with all your heart
I know your hearts been broken, abused
And left to fall apart
But you loved me with all you had
And more
Thank you mom for opening that door
For me to love you in return
A million times more
God saved your life one day
Delivered you from sin, sickness and alcohol
He also saved your life
When that knife was so close to your vein
God saved you
He also saved me
Without a christian mother
Where in this world I be?
Nobody is perfect
This I know and understand
We have all been hurt
Time and time again
Now you are safe in the arms of God
Free to relax, even take a sewing class
I know your still a little hurt
But I pray for you every day
And Ive noticed that God is healing me
And he is still healing you too
Mom I love you with all my heart and more
Thank you God so much for opening that door.......

Leah (24.78.52.116) -- Wednesday, May 28 2008, 05:31 am This poem is about the pain my mom went through while in a residential school..... I just want to comment on this poem, I wrote this about 5 years ago when I was 15! WoW time flies! Anyway I didn't mention a key point in this poem and that is that this poem is about the abuse and suffering that my mom was forced to go through while in the Residential school system and how she overcame all the obstacles that were put in her way. She will be turning 53 this month and is still healing from what happened to her. My mom has come along way. She went from being an alcoholic living on the streets to a successful and well known Aboriginal fashion and jewellery designer! I wanted to shed some light on the issue and let people know what this poem represents. If there is anybody out there who have mothers or fathers who went to residential schools I hope that you can read the poem and get something good out of it. |
Terrye* (67.187.237.233) -- Thursday, May 29 2008, 01:20 am Leah , i hope the best for your mom! she has strength...she survived.. i can understand where your poem comes from... few of my ancestors attended Indian residential schools, the stories i remember hearin' as a lil girl shocked and scared me. as a grownup i have a heart for all those that made that a part of history. there are so many things in life that should of never happened .but then there are so many other things that continue to happen .War etc. aboriginal fashion and jewelry i am very impressed ! good for your mom. |
