Dancing In The Whirlwind
25 June, 2003
Author: Ben Laney
Baby, I ain't no Moses
And I ain't no Judas
I guess I fall
Somewhere in between
I hear the wild wind blowing
I see the darkness growing
I'm hanging on
By the skin of my teeth
We got trouble in the East
And trouble in the West
Trouble right here
On Broadway and Main
Blind leaders are stumbling
The nations are crumbling
Show me one place
That's out of the rain
My head's full of big dreams
Lately I've been reaching
For something
Across the great unknown
I still want to play and dance
I'll take another chance
I'll sing my song even though
I'm dancing in the whirlwind
Yes, dancing in the whirlwind
I'm just like you, my friend,
Watching the world
Spin, and spin, and spin
I'm dancing in the whirlwind

Ben (67.123.245.148) -- Saturday, September 20 2003, 10:37 am Yes, Leah, we all are dancing in the whirlwind! Thank you for reading this one, and please, keep dancing! |
Pamela (66.38.146.116) -- Saturday, September 20 2003, 07:49 pm Such a profound perspective on life Ben. Your peotry is growing on me more and more each time I read another one. I like this poem because it points out the realistic (that the world is corrupt and in trouble) but it also points out the positive (that we don't have to give in to the chaos). I like it, I like it a lot :o) |
Pamela (66.38.146.116) -- Saturday, September 20 2003, 07:51 pm I forgot to say this-you should read my poem "The Choice Is Yours" because it is similar in topic about how we can make the positive choices in a negative world. You might like it! |
Ben (67.123.245.148) -- Saturday, September 20 2003, 11:10 pm Thank you VERY much for your positive, encouraging comment! I appreciate it a LOT! However, I hadn't considered that my writing might "grow on some people"! Can I perhaps send you a poem remover and a wire brush or something?? Ha! Ha! Haaaa! No, of course I'm kidding and I'm glad my writing is growing on you. It makes for a funny oicture in my head, too! Ha! Ha! Again, thank you soooo much! And for the tip about your poem as well! As an aside, You have one of my favorite names in the ENTIRE universe! My baby sister, who passed away at eight months old, is named Pamela Jean. I posted a poem here about her. |
