Deadly Assumptions
19 November, 2002
Author: Pamela O'Brien
Do not assume that a smile represents friendliness,
Or a promise of eternal devotion and happiness.
Do not assume that a beating heart represents compassion,
And that its sole purpose is to bring you satisfaction.
Do not assume that a kiss represents caring,
Or that you are the only one his lips thought worthy of sharing.
Do not assume that his words represent his true self,
And that it will never be your heart sitting up on a lonely shelf.

Pamela (66.38.146.184) -- Thursday, November 28 2002, 03:56 am This poem kind of sprouted not only from my pain, but society in general. Our assumptions lead to negative results and behavior - especially in love. As for myself, I wrote this as a reminder to not fall too fast for someone who I ASSUME I know :o) |
