Down In The Badlands
20 June, 2003
Author: Ben Laney
The sun shines warm and sweet
On the cactus
And the rattle-snakes retreat
Beneath the yuccas
The lizards
Play ring around the sagebrush
And the catfish
Get fat in the Pecos
Maybe I've been
In the city too long
Could be Hollywood
Is not where I belong
Well, I feel a changin' wind
And it's blowin' strong
Still I'm bound
To keep singing my song
And I'm thinkin' about
A familiar road
Where the coyotes howl out
Their lonesome souls
And I'm thinkin' about
Some old friends I know
Down in the badlands,
Down in the badlands,
Down in the badlands
Of New Mexico

Ben Laney (68.127.169.72) -- Thursday, August 19 2004, 04:28 pm Brenda Michelle, yes, those powerful storms can get your car dirty, but they can really clear out your head and make your heart pound! As for where I go out there? I go down the the South-eastern corner, around Hobbs, Lovington and Carlsbad. Thank you very much, my Poetic Friend, for your comment. It really is appreciated very much. Best Regards, Ben |
